Uneven Rotor Wear

Lately, I noticed brake smell from the left rear wheel. I removed the pads and they were somewhat crusty with road salt. I cleaned them with a wire brush and replaced. What concerned me was that the inner pad and rotor where showing uneven wear. The top and bottom 1/4 inch of the pad was wearing faster than the middle, making a channel in the disc. It is only a slight indention at this time. I could also feel on the right inner side this too was happening. Should I be concerned, is this normal? Should I have the rotors turned?
