Anyone whose replaced either an AT or Tcase or both, is it absolutely mandatory to replace the oil seals as stated in the manual if they're in good shape? Is there something about cracking the unit(s) that messes up the seals to require this?

I replaced both the transmission and the t-case. Because there is a good chance you'll mangle them as you are removing them, I say don't risk it. I thought about it myself, then realized I'd have to drop the & transfer case all over again if they started leaking. Wasn't worth the risk, IMO.

One bit of advice, don't remove the long center console thingy as the Haynes manual says. It's not necessary. I broke mine by the driver's seat belt unnecessarily.

Good luck!
