Hello,

today after starting the truck in the morning and driving 2 minutes, I parked my 95 Disco and got out and noticed a large amount of white smoke coming out of the tiny hole in the central muffler. It has never done this before that I have noticed. It didnt seem to do it the rest of the day either(not that I noticed, and I did look under it each time I got out). Anyone konw what this could be?

Happens to mine also. More so when it is cold out. I think when you start up the truck first thing in the morning or when it is cold, there is condesation and the hole is there to let it out. That is my guess. I could be wrong

Interesting....the same thing was happening to my 97 a few weeks ago. I started on a cold morning, drove to the coffee shop a few blocks away and when I came out, i noticed white smoke coming from that area. Didn't really take a crawl under as i just assumed the muffler was starting to deteriorate. I began looking for mufflers since inspection is due soon but maybe I'll look closer and find no problem at all.

Mine does it also. It must be some type of moisture drain hole.

as i learned on this very BBS, the muffler has a weep hole to let condensation drip out.

a friend pointed out that he thought i lost a head gasket during a deep puddle crossing; muffler will fill up and shoot steam for a good few mins. -

I had to stay all night working on a project and went to get some breakfast about a mile away and when I got out, I notced the smoke (steam) coming up it was very noticable. Usually I sit in traffic for an hour or so going to school in the morning so the condensation probably burns off. My truck does leak some radiator fluid (either from the valley gasket or head gasket, dont know), so I didnt know if it could be a blown head gasket that was letting radiator fluid into the head and causing the steam.

thanks

Derek
