I have a nasty brakeing vibe I suspected came from trhe front left. Took it fo a free inspection at brake depot and they said my rotor was out of round. They wanted to replace pads and rotors even though they weren't worn past dealer specs becausee hats what the book told them they had to do. I told them what they should do and left. I do most everything myself, but can I get away with just replacing one rotor? Or one rotor and those pads. Or do I have to do both rotors and both pads? Thanks Mike |

I would replace both, don't screw around with your brakes. This is a system you can't afford to fail, do it right. At most, we're talking $50-$70 per rotor. I would be concerned too, that if you replaced one, pulling to the left or right may occur. |

Are the cross drilled and slotted really worth it? I've heard different oppinions. I think I'd rather go with discount rovers than AB any day and they have em too. I think. Thanks again for the help. Mike |

XKs does have the best price for rotors and they are genuine rover parts. While it would be a good idea to replace both rotor, you can replace just one rotor provided the other rotor is within specs. But before you replace them, I'd take them to a machine or brake shop and have them miked and machine if there is enough meat on them. Many local parts shop machine rotors also. With regards to drilled rotors, they look nice and will disipate heat better, but they also wear the pads down quicker. I would recommend kevlar or carbon matallic pads if you use drilled rotors. I personally don't think they are worth the extra money, because the rovers have plenty of brakes on them.. but hey they do look good. While your at it make sure clean, inspect and repack your wheel bearings. They are one of the most neglected parts on a vehicle. Just my 2cents for what its worth. |

Replace the single rotor, don't bother trying to have one turned, it will only be a matter of time until the turned rotor will begin to crack. |

There are original LR discs for sale on LRX.com for 25.00 each and if you buy two it says shipping is 15.00 so at 65.00 total it is too cheap not to replace both. |
