Has anyone has issues with the rear trailing links being bent. Just had a service done and the service tech told me (and showed me) that my rear trailing links are bent. Could have happened on a trail ride or from something else. I was told if these arms are bent, it reduces ride quality and handling. thoughts???

The stock Disco items are very easy to bend off-road - just thin wall tubing. Either replace with early RRC items (will still bend though, but are heavier) or go aftermarket - Rovertym, Rockware, $G, etc, etc.

Trail damage is about the only thing that bends them, other than a bad accident. Bent is not good - not only are the bent ones extremely weak, they will cause some funky handling issues.

"Trail damage is about the only thing that bends them"

Or when someone lifts the vehicle on a two post lift by the trailing arms.

. . . disastrous handling issues, even. don't drive around on bent trailing links!! i'm sure your buds want to wheel with you at least one or two more times.

take the time to do post-trail run inspections of the rear links, then onto your steering links, and pitman arm. doubt you'd ever find a problem with the front radius arms - they're f'in strong; not a bad idea to check the chassis side bushes for those.

the wildest setup ive seen was a guy that used his old 10 spline axles for the rear links. Beefy!!

the jeepr / tube buggy crowd here in the NW regularly fabs 4 link rear suspensions by sleeving stock links, or just sleeving two different diameters of seamless tube. strong, cheap, and easily replaced.

since i bs much more than i get to wheel, mine remain blissfully stock. i'm hoping to go the sleeved route when the time comes.

i thought the rear D2 links were fairly beefy compared to the disco1's. sort of like a beam rather than a rod.

i am surprised you bent them, but it is possible.

My D1 has a slightly bent traling arm on one side. My 02 ones are like landcruiser's - much bigger and stronger - I have dopped the thing on some tough ground with some real momentum and not yet done any damage (touch-wood).
