My truck as well as my friends truck are coming up on 60k. He takes his to the dealer for most stuff (as he has no place nor knowledge to complete most work) and I must take mine to the dealer due to warranty restraints (all svcs must be done by qualified mechanics-I know...). The dealer quoted him nearly $800 for the 60k svc. This is more than the 30k. From the check list that I have (98 model) the 60k svc has one LESS item than the 30k i.e. should be cheaper or at least the same price. Can anyone shed light?

On a DII plugs get changed at 60 but not 30. Under warranty services are also less expensive. This is the main reason.

A DI 60k includes a bunch of stuff not done on a DII. Trans filter, fuel filter are the big ones. DI 60k is 1000 at most dealers.

Why is the D1 60k twice as much as the 30k when more things are done at the 30k? Any other opinions? Is this typical Rover Reasoning? Thanks Ron.

"I must take mine to the dealer due to warranty restraints (all svcs must be done by qualified mechanics-I know...)"

I am not sure who your warranty company is, but this does not sound right. All you are required to do under law is to maintain the vehicle according to manufacturer specs. If you DIY just make sure to save your reciepts and do the work right the first time. The warranty compnay will surely not cover sloppy work whether it is you or a certified mechanic. That being said, when it come to maintenance items, dealers use the cheapest guy on the payroll to do the work. I have seen lots of sloppy stuff come from my dealer for maintenance, while thier bigger repairs seem to be great.
