when I was looking for a new car my girlfriend wanted me to buy a Liberty. So we went to the dealer to take a look...I told I hated it and it was to small.. she said just get inside and see what you think... well Im 6 foot and she is 5.1... its so small when we both got in we hit each other.. she then looked up and said "OK...BUY THE LANDROVER" that is the nicest thing she has ever said to me.. I still get misty thinking about it.

i'm a Jeep owner and Jeep lover. was into Jeeps before i got into Rovers (i own one of each). the Libby makes me sick. i drove one just to get aquianted with the enemy. it's pathetic, but better than any of the other IFS cute-utes out there. now that Ford owns Rover, i'm afraid for the Disco's future.

I wonder if those rocks are used to boarder an asphalt ramp?

This is my latest data about Jeeps: Doofy teenagers shouldn't drive them. "Jeep Girl", as we call the kid up the street, flipped her Jeep on our little road today, and totalled the thing. I've told her mother a hundred times the kid drives too fast....and she flipped it on a straight part of the road, too! The kid has a talent....oh, and everything but the Jeep and her insurance rates are fine.

I do like the idea of the light bar on the roof. A combined light holder with an integrated fairing for the roof rack. To bad the lights are so small. I bet they make less noise than my lights, that mount looks like it was thought out to reduce wind drag and noise. Of course turning up the radio does the trick too.

come on, who's not guilty of taking a photo with one wheel on something that looks big (rather, looked big when the photo was taken).

speaking of renegades, i'd take a CJ5 Renegade with a 304 any day, if i didn't have four vehicles already. Mantaray, I'm with you, just double the stock :-)

with all my sympathy to jeep, i can't stand liberty's looks. almost as ugly as asstek. and, come to think of it, it supposedly evolved from the awesome (to me) Dakar concept - that never saw production.

When I was looking for new transpo a couple of years ago, I looked at the "Libby". They had just come out. Actually, I was researching them before the dealer had them. I had my mind made up, the "Libby" was for me. Liberty was supposed to replace the Cherokee(HA HA). Only to see one for the first time. Way too small. That's when I started looking again, and I figured out I could got a 2 year old Disco for what I was going to pay for a new "Libby". I have never looked back, except when I pass one.

I think the liberty is just about the ugliest lil sport ute made today. I did see a Toyota RAV 4 with a lift and tires a few years ago that looked really good. Kinda like a lil Landcruiser. I'd love to see a rubicon version of the liberty though. I like the fact that Jeep offers a "tricked out" wrangler. More than I can say for Landrover. They seem to be making them more onroad friendly, and less off-road capable (no cdl option, etc.). I figured by now they'd have come up with a Camel Trophy or Safari Gard version. I guess they feel the demand isn't there. Hat's off to jeep for the rubicon though, great bang for the buck!

I think that jeep looks better like this...

jeep

BTW, I was watching Car and Driver TV earlier and they showed the 03 D2 4.6. Their verdict is

"This is no Off-road poseur, it's the real thing!"

That kinda gave me that feeling you get after peeing
