Help! 1999 Disco II 94k - when you try to start it the engine just clicks - it does not crank - i don't think its the battery since the little green light is on and all lights work as they should

Frank - most likely the battery, but check all connections and cables for corrosion and tightness - both power and ground. You may see one green "eye" on the abttery, but that only means one cell is good - the rest could be shot. If you have a meter, check battery voltage.

Your starter solenoid is only getting enough juice to engage, but not enough to turn the starter motor.

Frank,

Check the red connection to the starter itself - clean and tighten the starter end specifically. I had a problem just like your's and had built up some oil and sludge in the connector to the starter from the battery. Interior lights worked, and the solenoid click was there too. Each morning, no start for about fifty turns of the key, until I'd burnt off enough condensation from the loose connection. 10mm spanner and a rag on a D1 will get the job done in minutes.

Hope that's all it is with yours!
