I have an OME HD lift on my 2000 Disco II. It seems that the stress caused by the lift has worn out the U-joints on the front driveshaft. Is there a different or longer drive shaft I should replace my stock one with.

Any help would be appreciated, as my truck is down until i relace the driveshaft.

Thank You,
Eric Olsen

Longer won't do any good, you need one with a double u-joint at the T-case end. Great Basin has them, as do Tom Woods. Links are in the Resources section.

Axel,

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t the DII already have the style of drive shaft in the front like you are talking about?

Personally I would just get the one that you have rebuilt/balanced with u-joints that you can grease rather than the sealed for life one that is stock on the DII. Bill @ Great Basin sells a kit to update the stock DII shaft with the grease zerk u-joints.

You are right. I was thinking of D1, not D2. I agree with you on the greasable joints.

The Tom Woods Driveshaft didn't fit well on my truck in the front. I know this is true of several others. 95 D1....rubbed the zerk off and chewed up some of the shaft on the Cat.

Thanks for the response, it looks like I will just have my front drivshaft U-joints rebuilt.

Thanks,
Eric
