If you go to http://www.skytoprover.com/offroad.htm that website, you'll see this image.

One would hope the owner of that grille guard wasn't that stupid. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Oh yeah, in case you don't know what I mean... They attached the tow line to the grille guard.

But for everytime you tell someone that the brushguard is not a recovery point, someone will pipe and and say "Its always worked for me". And it works, until it lets go. And you just hope no one gets killed or maimed by the flying steel parts.

Well thats a little misleading Perrone. If you attach to one of the tubes its gonna give up the ghost. If you attach to one of the integrated recovery holes then it works fone. If you hook a tow strap to any of the manufacturers hoops on their bumpers and snatch on it that shit is gonna react in a bad way......

True Kyle.. but the people I have seen attaching to a brushbar hook onto the most convenient place. Meaning right at the top in the center. No one is going to want to shovel down to a good recovery spot and hook up there.

I've got a DII brushguard in the garage and don't remember a good place on them to snatch from. Where do they put the attachment points? This is actually good info because I sometimes need to pull discos and rangies who don't have proper recovery points yet.

Thanks,

Hmmm , I just became real intimate with a DII brush guard and to tell ya the truth , I dont recall if it had the rings at the bottom or not. It does however have one protruding through the bumper. Not a signifigant point but it will work if treated with the proper respect..

I have the D2 stock brush bar. It has two rings near the bottom and the service guy told me that those are the recovery points. I think it would be good for a static recovery instead of going 20mph.

Roverine will tell you her factory brush guard was stout enough to pull a newer Land Cruiser that was high centered on a boulder.

Not that I would know better, but I'm just the guy that attached the strap to it :-)

I'm not too sure about the recovery rings on my stock bumper but I would think they would hold, but I wouldn't want to over stress them. At any rate I'm still going to figure out where to put some jate rings up front, somewhere. I'd just feel safer using those.

BTW, the cost of jate rings are cheaper than they used to be. I check cost and they were about half what I paid over a year ago. Probably the only LR part that got cheaper.

Craddocks had these on sale in the past 2 weeks for $15 a pair. Don't know if the special is still on. I bought mine at Rovers North before I knew any better.
