Has it ever happened to other folk's D1s? I just took my 96 D1 on a 10hr driving trip from vancouver to mt.st helens (all on pavement) and when I started it up the amber check engine light was on and I notice stuttering and a lot of vibration when I stop in Drive (improves if I put it to neutral). I've had this happen before and the dealer said it was something with the gasket... and it was fixed. Recently they told me my oxygen sensors were "wearing out" but they just reseted it for me. Is this sudden surge and lag in throttle probably cause of the O2 sensor or gasket? I would keep steady pressure on the pedal and then suddenly I hear the engine choke when I go at 50kph and then surge again and it seems to not let me go above 90kph. suggestions would be nice until I bring it back into the dealer on a weekday thanks

Sounds like your VSS ( vehicle speed sensor)

I get up to about 70 or 75mph sometimes, and it feels like someone just turned the key off. Then back on. No matter how far I push the pedal down.

Its a cheap part and easy fix, if it sounds like this is the same.

check in the Tech section, Thom just did a sweet wite up on the fix for it.
