There are times after i've been in CDL mode for a while, that the LIGHT will go out indicating "diff lock" has disengaged. I end up disengaging and then re-engaging the lever to get the light to get back on. It's my impression that the lock actually disengages -but I can't prove it yet. Has anyone ever seen this type of behaviour before? I've heard that the lever is only a "request" to engage -are there other smarts the LR has that might influence this? Thoughts, comments, questions all welcomed. |

The linkage is probably loose, or not fully engaging the lock. I doubt the problem in in the transfer case. The lock works by sliding a collar that locks the front and rear output shafts together. There is no force acting to lock or unlock it under load unless it is marginally engaged. The sender for the lock light may be screwed in too far, preventing full engagement.
