Just driving down the highway, and I noticed that my RPM gauge wasn't working, battery light was on, and SRS light was on. Car was running fine. When I turned on the lights, or blinker, the speedometer would jump. The lights were also very dim. Is my battery dead?? Or is it something worse |

If it is that alternator, do NOT buy a rebuild. |

Depends, I had mine go out last year and got one from the local AutoZone for $180 or so. It lasted about 4 months and had to get another one but it was under warranty and it's only like a 10-15min job to change it out. This one is going on 8 months or so with no problems. $400 just seems a little pricey to me when the others come with a warranty. |

Well I just installed the $350, brand new alt. Right after I installed it, the first few times I started the engine, it ran like total crap, the speedo wouldn't work, jumped around, and it had trouble idleing. It seemed fine after I got out of class and drove back home. Is that wacky stuff typical for the first few runs? |
