I'm changing the pads and rotors on my 98 disco.(70,000 miles) The pads are no problem, but the rotors behind the hub confuse me. I have all the tourqe requirements but do I need l/r tools for the grease shield , bearing replacement etc. And are there any parts that should be replaced in the hub assembly prior to re-assembly?

Thanks for any help.

It's pretty straight-forward... get the caliper off and out of the way w/o damaging the brake-line, off with the rubber hubcap, circlip and nut... it'd be handy to have one of those 2+" Rover hub-sockets, but you can do it w/ channel-locks... treat the lock-washer gently and you can re-use it (even through you should replace it)... the hub/rotor come off together, once you get the bolts loose and hammer the two apart and are putting the new rotor to the hub, use the bolts as guides; line up the holes between the two, insert the bolts, then hammer the two together, letting the bolts keep them aligned. Then take the bolts back out and lock-tite them, then put them back in... the bearings will have slipped out when you pulled the two off of the axle, inspect them while you have them out, but mine have (thus far) been fine, and slid back in place...

It's comforting to have someone that's done it before be there when you do it, but, if you're intelligent and methodical you'll figure it out....

Good luck...

Oh, PS: Search the archives for more detail: this has been discussed in the past many times over.... should be quite a gold-mine available for ya...

You've probably already completed the job, but there is one tool that (I feel) is necessary. A pair of c-clip pliers, available at Sears for $10.99-19.99. I do not see how anyone could proceed without these.
