My Disco 2 just broke 60,000 miles this weekend. When I started the car up this morning the Amber Service Engine Soon light came on, (did not notice anything wrong with engine). Does this light come on when you hit 60,000 miles or is the light related to something else?
Also what is the average cost for the 60,000 mile check up and the Land Rover Dealership? I am going to set up an appointment today.

I hear that the check engine light is designed to come on at 60,000 miles? Is this true?

Josh,
I do believe you. I wrote this post before I before I checked my e-mail. I did not check my e-mail until about 11:45. Sorry.

on your DII, that light comes on if the truck is throwing a code. on a DI there are two different lights (Service Engine and Check Engine). DII they have combined both of those lights into one.

Your service engine light on the D2 does not come on at certain intervals. If it comes on, then the computer has detected a fault code/problem with emissions. Make sure your gas cap is on and it clicked three times. This alone will make the light come on.

The light was caused by my gas cap not being on all the way.

What flushes are done on the D2 for the 60000 mile maintance? I was just curious, (my manuel is in my car at the shop). Is there a web site where I can find the 60000 mile service info?
