Does anybody has a bright idea on how to reallign the tailgate of a D1. I tried it once on my previous disco. I felt rather clumsy after 2 hours and a gap of half an inch at the top.

Thanks,

Rob

Had the same issue on my 99' D1...I had the dealer fix it after my failed attempt...
50 bucks...win some ...lose some.

No bright idea, only elbow grease worked for me (err...sufficiently good, as it is still too low on LHside).

I used my big garage jack, a block of wood, and a soft pad. Put it on the end of the door when wide open. Jacked just until vehicle started lifting. Released all the hinge bolts on the vehicle side. Jacked a bit more. Tightened. Not good enough.
Repeated jacking - repeated working on vehicle end of hinges. Still not good enough.
Then repeated, but loosened hinges on door side. This did the trick for me - errr good enough for now...
You might also use shims under lower hinge (vehicle end) to lift the lower LHside of the door.
It IS tricky!!!
