Electrical charging problem, battery check out ok from 2 sources. Alt. showed putting out 3amps. Source stated should be putting out 5amps to keep batt up. Anyone know? ALSO what is the difference between a Disco I hitch receiver compared to any other 2" receiver? (96 Disco I) THANKS!!

Alternator should put out close to 14.2 volts at the battery terminals when the battery is fully charged,The voltage should be at least 13.6 after a short run. Don't worry about amps. Amp rate will and can change often and much during charge.
TOWBAR
Check disco towbar weight rating stamped on bar. It should read 150Kg or if its a rangie bar it should read 200kg. The pulling rating is rated at 4000 with a pentil hook and 3500kg with a hitch receiver.
