96 D1. I ordered a gasket from Nathan Crabtree, and the glass guy who came out to the house tells me that it won't work. It's all one piece, while what's in there now is four separate strips. He said that the gasket I have needs some sort of insert to put in the gasket to hold the glass in. It looked like it would have worked to me, but I didn't want to tell this guy his business, or worse, have him pull the windshield and find out he was right. Do I have the wrong stuff, need more stuff, or something else? Thanks. |

Just an update for anybody who is interested, which seems like not too many people, but there is a rubber piece that fits inside the window gasket-- part #mxc 8199. Many thanks to Nathan Crabtree for excellent customer service. |

just had my 96 D1 windshield replaced, and there was definitely more than 1 gasket-related piece. glad to hear it worked out. |

Another update just for anybody I may have confused, or for archive's sake: Nathan and I must have miscommunicated (stuff happens) because there are four mouldings, not one gasket, involved in replacing the windshield. I believe (take note of my uncertainty) the part numbers are: Upper AWR 2025 Lower AWR 1512 Right AWR 2023 Left AWR 2024.

Thanks for posting this info Matt. I fear that I may have to replace my mouldings soon as the disco seems to have developed a slow drip in the passenger side foot well.

when I first got my 96 Disco, I had a small leak near the A-pillar on the driver's side. The headliner near the A-pillar would get wet and sometimes drip. A new windshield, installed by someone who actually knew what they were doing cured the leak - it was all in the molding. |
