I am not sure if anyone is familiar with the Gumball 3000 or not. After considering participating in this gumball run, I decided that I would never have a drivers license again if I did. However I got the idea that we could start our own version of the Gumball 3000, but off-road. We would select a trail that would take anywhere from 2-6 days to complete, possibly ending in Moab. At the end of every 4 wheeling day we would set up camp and throw a large party. It would be a great way to meet other people who share the same desires. We could also issue every participant a set of GPS coordinates every night of where camp would be set up. That would include some street driving, so that we could stop at near by towns to re-fuel. I dont have all of the details worked out quite yet, but before I pursue it any further out side my group of friends, would anyone else be interested in participating? Please let me know. Thanks, -- Garret Curtis [email protected]

Garret did you see the video that was made about it. my god it is awsome. I am going to enter that when my friend finishes his WRX project, that will end up with about 700hp. We will take that on it. Your thought sounds very good idea. I wouldn't mind doing something like that. Marcel [email protected] |

Wha..?? 700hp out of a WRX engine? Not on a factory block..... 400hp is HUGE for a Roo block; the forthcoming 2.5 STi will be 300, and it shouldn't be hard to push it a bit more, and the 2.0 in the standard WRX can be pushed up to 300 too... but once you get past 350-400 in a Roo engine, you have to do a lot... get to 500, and you have really accomplished something. Over that, and you're working on the wrong platform... start over with a Mustang or something else... I know to not say that it can't be done, but, 700hp in a Roo is like saying you're gonna get a Rover V8 in a Disco to do 10-sec 1/4-mi times, hit 30mpg, and have the vehicle pull .9g on a skid-pad.... -L

oh it is possible, just a matter of getting the right parts. it is about a year or two project but it can be done. I have drivin an STi before, they are great cars and it was damn fast! But no mustang is a no no. They are pretty slow in my opinon, at least the GT is. I beat it with my volvo station wagon many a times. And it is damn ugly!!! Marcel |
