I need some help. In December as I was driving at 65 mph in 30 degree temp with less than 1/4 tank of fuel my disco started to act as if it had no power. Soon after I let off the gas and started to coast the problem resolved only to recur few minutes later. Occured multiple times until I arrived home. I promptly filled up the tank thinking that perhaps I had some moisture in the fuel. No problems until a few days later, same problem except this time 75 mph full tank and the problem only resolved if my speed did not exceed 55-60 mph. Changed fuel filter, plugs, wires. No problems until few days ago traveling 50 mph in 60 degree weather and another episode. Check engine light not on. Anybody else had this problem and know the cause?
Thanks,
Mike

I'd try a can of Techroline or some fuel injector cleaner in the next tank of gas.

I just had the same problem with my '97. It was the VSS. Expect around $500 from a dealer, then again you know it was done right.

What is the VSS and can I replace it myself?

The VSS is a one bolt job. You got screwed if you paid $500.00. Call Nathan and check the archives.

No kidding...I gotta jump on this thread, too!

There pretty much is not a WRONG way you can install the VSS. If you somehow could manage it, you may want to sell your vehicle and ride the bus before you kill somebody...your hand-eye, motor, and reasoning skills are obviously around that of a premature infant (no offense to you premmies out there...).

Seriously...that is single-handedly the weakest statement I have ever heard. Congratulations.
