I remember that last interview (w/ Diane Sawyer I believe). He was talking about how he has a 100% approval rating, she asks if he thinks the fact that everyone who speaks out against him is imprisoned has anything to do with it and he says something along the lines of "isn't it like that in America too?". What a dumb shit.

Did you all see Bush's speech tonight? He spoke several times of a new power in Iraq. I think the writing is on the wall.

Well, what everyone has to remember is Dan needs some better numbers. He and other news on local networks has to compete against 24 hr cable venues.

what a BS puff piece! Saddam is a monster and Rather had the nerve to try and make him look human! He should have taken the opportunity to sink a knife into Saddam's heart. Don't give me that "journalists are objective and above it all" BS: it is the duty of ANY American to destroy evil whenever there is a chance, and last I looked, DR had a US passport.

BS puff piece - you bet! I think 60 Minutes and the new version 60 Minutes 2 have been doing this for a number of years. I gave up on those guys years ago. The almighty dollar took precedence over factual/relevent reporting (the norm it seems these days).

My wife was channel surfing last night and caught the show just as it started. WTF kept going through my mind as I listened to Dan's first questions. That interview was pure bullshit - its only purpose was to serve the networks need at the expense of the United Nations and its supporters. When Sadam brought up the debate issue old Dan's face looked like someone who has just discovered something better than sex. What a moron. How can you sit and converse with anyone of that nature? What do you expect to be the outcome? Oh yeah, I forgot! The money! After that question we shut off that POS show.

I liked the little bit about speaking English: "Can you just say something, anything you like, for us in English?"

I was thinking, what is this? Some sort of stupid human trick? Would it make Saddam look better if he could just speak English? "Please Saddam, just say something so G.W. won't hurt you." That is what that interview was.

it gets even better, they shot about an hour to 90 mins worth of material for the interview, then the Iraqi government edited it down to about 30mins of material, then CBS edited it into the piece you all saw. It pisses me off to see this BS on the air...what's even worst is that some people think what he's saying is valid...

Oh yeah - I also liked the part where they stated he got 100% of the vote during the last election. I didn't realize turnips where part of IRAQ's GNP.

Vote or Die, right?? I agree about DR and trying with the "look at Saddam, he's a good guy after all" trick. He's just liberal and can't see past that GW got elected over Al. Where would we be if it were the other way??

Oh yeah - we had 8 years of that before didn't we? Can anyone say "denial"?
