2000 LRD I want to check level and add fluid, if needed, to the automatic transmission. Is there access from underneath the rig? If so, where?

Thanks

Steve

I have a 96 D1 so this may be different. If you slide under the very middle of the front (directly under the radiator and behind) you will see a plug with a 1/2" inverted square for a socket wrench to fit into. It sits facing forward and up about 6 inches from the base of the engine. It should be pretty easy to see as there is a lot of space between the radiator and the engine and you should be able to fit a funnel and tube in that space. If when you take out the plug and trans fluid leaks out, it is full.

The level check uses a dipstick located on the passenger side near the wiper fluid resevoir. Again this may all be moot cause this is for a 96.

Steve, its layed out in the manual. Basically you have to take the upper fill plug out, and fill it up as much as you can, then you turn the engine on and go through the gears while keeping the footbrake down. Back into park, engine on, and then fill up again till no more gets in.

Dean (ps before you do this check the manual or ask again to check the exact sequence.)

The shop manual you can pick up from the dealer for about $240, or from some other for lass than half that. Check in the recent archives for who's selling them. Its good to have one anyway, from the sound of your email you might be doing other stuff too. Where are you based? Send me a private email.
