Is there a website that has standard dimensions, strengths, weight per foot and so on for commonly available USA-spec mild steel? I have a local source for steel, but I need tech data. I once read a book called "Build Your Own Trailer" or similar, and it had extensive tables in the back.

I want to fab a rear skid plate/ bumper to protect the tailgate on my aluminum utility trailer. I would like to be able to calculate the finished weight in order to spec the right size steel. I don't want to decrease the tongue weight too much.

Thanks for any help. I have posted this question is several other forums and I haven't had a single reply.

That link works great. They have all the common steel angle, bar and tube sizes, and the weight calculator is cool. Also, the company is in Seattle, only about 40 minutes from my house, so I could place an order and swing by Will Call and pick up the pre-cut pieces.

Thank you. Ain't the Internet great?
