Ok, so my girlfriend picked up a "new to her" 2000 Discovery, fully loaded from a car broker in Seattle. Advertised miles 66400, miles when we picked it up 66703, as written on the docs. We were driving back to Portland, OR and noticed the tripmeter churning over the miles at an alarmingly fast rate. On closer inspection we noticed a km sign. Shoot, we ended up with a Canadian car we thought. Checked the door panel, nope, she's a US model. Out with the manual, oh wow you can change the trip meter from km's to miles. We did, and presto we now have a Discovery with only 41.5k MILES. We were laughing all the way back to Portland, especially for the price we paid, and now we still have factory warranty. But now we are concerned that during the vehicles life, everything has been logged in km's. So a carfax would be great if someone can do one for us. the VIN# is SALTY1548YA245201 thanks |

Look carefully in the cargo area.....with that kind of luck you may find a case of beer, winch, sliders, lights, and other goodies. Congratulations, and enjoy your D2! |

yes, its on carfax with 66,400.. Its on Land Rovers internal computers as 55,700. So as far as LRNA is concerned the warranty is up. You might have a tough time arguing against a rollback. |

Angelo, You may have some big problems. If you try to sell or trade that vehicle there will be an odomoter discrepancy that will absolutly destroy the value of that vehicle. I would call the dealer or broker imediatly. You may indeed have a battle on your hands. good luck |

I rang the dealer that was servicing the car. They acknowledged a big difference in mileage between services. They have noted it and said they will send it in to corporate office. The car is going in for some warranty items on Tuesday. That will be the big test. The thing thats going on in my mind now is that the vehicle was previously a lease, I am positive that the owner may have had to pay for at least 20k miles of penalties for exceeding his agreed upon mileage. Is there any way of finding out previous owner info. I'd like to see him get his money back, and it could be around $3600, rather have him have it than the leasing company. |
