My headlight switch on my steering column is bad. My headlights work, but no dash lights, parking lights or rear lights working (Thank the Rover Gods for those rear fogs!) They work if I position my switch in the correct position, but then I sometimes get a real strong burning smell. Is there a quick fix? How hard/expensive is it to replace the switch. What did you do, Enoch? |

Just to chime in, but my apologies for not helping.. my turn signals don't work 80% of the time. If you push it down for a left turn, nothing happens, if you push the switch gently toward the dash and hold, I get turn signal. This should be alleviated by replacing the switch right? |

Your switch is bad. That burning smell is the connector over heating. Replace the switch as soon as you can before you burn the connector up. Simple 15 minute fix. Nathan at Discount rovers has them. John |

How is it done...or is it self-explanitory once I get close and look? |

Greg, Take off the plastic housing around the column, turn the steering wheel until you see the two little phillips screws. A long skinny screwdriver will do the trick. Once you get the new switch, you'll see where there is a little 'nub' that additionally holds the switch into the housing. You'll need a thin flat head screwdriver to pry it out...not much needed, just a bit. John |

Thanks, John. I'll have a go at it. |
