I have 2 electrical problems with my 97 discovery: 1/Cruise control is failing to set -switch still lights but when i try to set speed it won't 2/The left rear window was sporatic about working and now will not work at all -neither the back left door switch or the master in front- all other windows work fine though. Any help with these problems would be greatly appreciated -thanks fb |

Possibly with your cruise it is the vaccum line has dried out. Cut the end and that will restore pressure. On your window does it make any noise? It could possibly be the regulator that has failed. They tend to due to the cheap plastic wheels or guides that break.. |

As far as the cruise control goes, most commonly and in order of ease to check are 1. Vacuum lines for the CC system. 2. Brake (and clutch if you have a manual trans) cutoff switch. 3. Electrical issues with switches, buttons, and (God forbid) the cruise control ECU. 4. Failure of the vacuum pump under the jack at the front of the engine compartment on the driver's side. Click on the link to see a thread that was posted a couple of weeks ago. About halfway through the thread is a troubleshooting guide to test the CC ECU, the vacuum pump, and the various switches and buttons.
