Need help on hydraulic winch install

Author Message   Dean Brown (Deanbrown3d) Senior Member Username: Deanbrown3d Post Number: 531 Registered: 02-2002 Posted on Saturday, March 01, 2003 - 01:02 pm:    Hello all, I'm doing the last stage of connecting the milemarker to my steering system. The adapter kit that came with the winch just states "land rover", and has two pieces. One adapter is identical to the one that goes into the PAS pump. But the other fitting (that goes into the steering box) is different (see photo). The blue arrow shows the original hose fitting, and the green arrow the adapter kit. The adapter fitting looks like it might fit in with a suitable O-ring, but looking at the original one I'm not sure how important that inner seal is. My other option is to cut into the original line (its a metal hydraulic pipe that runs across the radiator and back for cooling) and braze the adapters onto the existing line. I have not done any brazing so I'm not sure how to do this. If anyone has some advice, or if the adapter you have installed was the same as in the photo, please let me know. The fitting goes into a bored out hole about 5/8" deep.
