Took this info of greatbasinrovers.com website: http://www.greatbasinrovers.com/axle.html U.S. spec Range Rovers from 1987 to mid 1993 all had 1"/10 spline axles front and rear at which point they were increased in size to 1.25"/24 spline. There was a small change in length of the rear axles with the 1990 models due to the addition of ABS brakes. 1987 models had suffix A front axles, 1988/89 models were suffix B's. They changed again with the addition of ABS brakes in 1990. Constant Velocity (CV) joints also changed with the axle changes. In mid 1993 the front axles also were enlarged to 1.25/24 spline although the CV end of the front inner axle was unfortunately reduced in size to 1.030"/32 spline.

I have a 93 LWB and it had the 10 spline axles, I managed to break all of them within 2 years, I replaced the front 2 with 24 spline D90 axles and a True Trac from GBR, then just recently replaced the rear diff with a TrueTrac and 24 spline axles also from a D90. No problems, It's all good so far. Also added today the Sorpion Racing 30mm Spacers and I now have better turning radius, and it sure does handle better in the corners, feels like it's grabbing more to the pavement. |
