I was on D.A.P's website the other day and noticed that thier prices are generally a lot lower then others. I was looking at thier rock slider and front skid plate for a D1. Does anybody have any positive or negative info on them??

I can't comment on the sliders, etc. but their hard parts are acceptable. I have a water pump and have put many parts bought from them on others' vehicles.

DAP's stuff is primarely bearmach from england. depending on the item you get what you pay for. they sell some stuff a little cheaper but it's is a little less in quality. some stuff this doesn't matter and some stuff it does. for me, any component i dont want to change again i go with the best quality i can find. for things that wear out or the value is worth any potential trouble i would try DAP.

the SLiders have ben talked about and they are essentially a running board that is shaped like a slider and do not offer anywhere near the level of protection that the leading brands do. you could rig them into a real slider but it would take a lot of work.

skid plate might be interesting. i bet if you compare the thickness of the components in the skid plate to say the AB skid plate you will see why it is cheaper. however having not seen this skid plate i would not say "don't buy it", just be prepared to get what you pay for.

Personally have had good luck with replacement parts from DAP - don't know about the quality of protection items like sliders, etc other than what is said here.

Recently bought their brake kit - DBA rotors, etc - same as you'd get from AB, EE, etc. just much cheaper.

Like Rob said - the replacement parts are almost all Bearmach.

I know that I've heard a lot of complaints about the "big blue" springs sagging. But that's not DAP, it's Bearmach. They do seem to have some neat cosmetic add-ons for the Freelander, though.

How about the panhard rods and track rods?

Anyone running those?

I have the above mentioned crappy sliders. I got them from David Gage at Thatched Roof Garage. I am a poor high school student and $185 for a set of galvanized sliders wasn't to bad. The most rock I ever get on is Uwharrie, most everything else I do is mud type stuff. But so far they have held up well, and have saved my butt a few times. I have used a highlift under them numerous times with out any problem, but I have stayed close to the mounting points.

Their front skid plate (D2) is weak, and the mounting brackets bent after a couple of impacts.

Not worth the money, IMHO

my bearmach D1 skid plate, (I got it straight from bearmach, but it sounds like that's what DAP sells) is stout as hell.
