Anyone else having problems with their 95' Disco head gaskets (leaking)? I have also had problems with my power steering gear box. Does this happen to a lot of 95's? Tony |

Head gaskets and ps boxes are common Rover weak spots. How do you know the head gaskets are leaking, are you loosing compression? Check the vendor page, many offer replacements hoses for your ps box. |

John- thanks! I am losing compresion a bit and LR gave me an estimate of $1250 to fix a leaking head gasket. Just wanted to see if it was common. Tony |

Tony: If you can turn a wrench, you can do it for less than $500 depending upon machine shop prices. It's just nuts and bolts and most of them loosen counter-clockwise. Other than waiting to get the heads back from the machine shop, you're looking at about 10-15 hours of work and trust me, you will have a most intimate knowledge fo your truck Paul

Tony: One bit of advice-Assume that you will use the new style gaskets and bolts. I didn't and spent more on parts than I needed to. Also, check around for prices, I got screwed by a vendor who did not honor internet posted prices and has not made good yet. The head gasket set is probably the best way to go as it will have everything you need to do the job, including the valve stem seals. Whether you think you need it or not, have the heads surfaced and the valve seats ground. Need more help, e-mail me directly and I can help you through the job. It is not particularly technical, but it is intensive and time consuming. When you get to the rear-most head bolts, make damned sure you get all of the sludge out of the way, otherwise, you run the risk of rounding the bolt head. Paul |

I concur with Paul, I bought the kit from AB when I did the heads on my 88RRC. It also comes with the valley gasket and other nifty bits and pieces as well. Not hard, but time comsuming. You need a clean area, the workshop manual, a good torque wrench, stay orgainized and take notes. E-mail with questions, -John |
