I have a 1995 automatic Disco that won't start. I pulled into my garage, and after about 5 minutes, I got back in, and tried to start it but to no avail. The truck is in Park, and when I turn the key on, the dash lights come on, and I can hear the fuel pump run. When I turn the key to start it, nothing happens. When I push on the brake pedal, I can hear the clicking noise from the relay. If I move the truck into a gear, and try to take the key out, it won't come out (leading me to believe that it is not the park pin, nor the brake pedal switch). What could my problem be? |

I don't believe so. Everything seems to work ok that uses the battery, the lights are bright etc., and the truck doesn't attempt to start |

I had a problem like that with my 1995 disco also, only my carborator wouldn't shut off. I would take the key out, engine would stop, and id walk away and the carborator was still humming. Walked away, drove it around the block, came back and it shut off. However, if you can get the auto gear box into N, try engaging and disengaging the differntial, generally something is screwed up in or around there when my car has problems. |

After letting the Disco sit for about an hour, it started right up. Any suggestions as to what I need to look for to remedy the problem.

Check the power from the battery to the starter - this connection in particular (at the starter end) is prone to lots of road-grime and grease build up. If you've been driving in damp or rainy conditions, water gets in there as well. A 10mm spanner and clean rag is all you need to rule this possibility out! Cheers and good luck, e |

Given the location of the Starter, this is a classic symptom of a bad starter selonid. Won't start when hot and after cooling off starts fine. Next time it won't stop, hit it with a BFH (Big Frinken Hammer). If it starts, then you've found the problem. Good luck |
