I have a 96 D1 with 245/75/16s, bilstein shocks and an ARB bullbar with winch. I was under the impression when I bought it that it was lifted about 2" through the springs. I recently met someone who knew the truck before me and they don't think the previous owner put HD springs on it. Is there a way of measuring it so I know. I don't know what stock height is vs. what I have and I'm interested in putting 235/85/16 tires on, but without a lift, that won't fly. thanks, jeff.

I'm guessing you'd be riding pretty low in the front on the stock springs with the ARB and winch.

From what I heard, OME 751's will lift 1.5-2" on Rover and sag that amount when a bumper and winch are added (FWIW, the 751's give me about 2").

i bet it is lifted,
do a measurement, the top of the fender arch to the center cap. Do the front and back, but mainly look at the back because it isn't weighted down by the ARB / winch. then go to www.discoweb.org/lift.htm and look at the stock vs. ome lifted and see where you range.

Springs are yellow?

I've had two OME lifted trucks, and both times the springs have been black.

Both sets of shocks were yellow, though.

Stock Disco 1 is 18" from center of fender lip to center of hub. 2" lift measurement will be 20" and so on.

Finally measured, I have between 19.5 and 20 inches between center of wheel and fender on three corners, one (right rear) is an even 19. So, I guess it is lifted a bit, but the next question is will this allow sufficient clearance for 235/85/16s? (I'd use Kyle's method (can someone point me to the article, I don't see it under tech) to relocate the back fender.)

thanks,

jeff

found the fender relocation article. Question still stands, will the 235s fit with the above measurements? (I'll do a search, but in case someone knows off the top of their head I thought I'd throw it out),

thanks, jeff

Yep, they'll fit. Mine was measuring 18-18.5 on one side and 19-19.5 on the other due to sagging springs and I was just fine. After replacing all the springs, and adding a heavy bumper, the front now sits right about 19 on both sides, the rear is right around 20 on both sides. Just do it!

if they don't fit, hell, it will be time for some new springs. My wife hates this car ...
