OK, I took my rig in yesterday for some maint. and to have my ABS/HDC/TC lights reset since I repaired my sensor. Since they were going to be in there anyway, I asked if they would make it so my driving and rear fog lights would turn on at any time, instead of having to have my headlights on. They said sure, but they couldn't find where in testbook to look, so they didn't do it. I paid my bill, but they said if I could find out where they need to look, they'll do it at N/C since they couldn't find it. Anyone know where I should tell them to look? |

Greg, disco2.com has a fairly comprehensive list of TestBook configurations. I didn't see an option to enable front/rear fog lights at the same time, but perhaps I glanced too quickly. http://www.disco2.com/tech/bodyelec/class.phtml -ema |

Well, after reading that, it looks like I can't get the driving and fog lights to come on unless the main lights are on. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks Eugene, that was VERY helpful. |

Greg - I don't have any idea how well they work, but Hella supplies a remote switch/ relay set with some of its aux lights. That would be a quick and easy way to get independent operation of the fogs without having to actually string a lot of wires.

As John said, rewiring wis probably the easiest. Most of a Disco's electrics are run by relays, some interlocking in the strangest ways. The relay for the front fog lamps taps into the power for the low beams. If the low beams aren't on the fogs won't come on. I haven't looked at the rear fogs, but I would imagine something similar, where the lights have to be on to actuate the rear fog relay. I don't have my fogs independent of my lights, but I put both front and rear fogs on the same switch. To do that I just rerouted the wire from the front fogs to the switch on the binnacle for the rear. -Reed |

In a D2, the lights are controlled by a computer and not just simple switches and relays. Testbook is the name of the system or program that controls these functions. The Dealer or shop must use the computer to enable these functions. www.disco2.com as noted above gives a good overview. |
