A few days ago i noticed a strange bluish-white smoke comming out of the exhaust pipe of my ol'RR after starting it. I just changed the oil, use premium gas, and the truck seems to be runnig fine. The smoke clears after a few minutes of driving...but sometimes it can be real annoying especially when it just pours out and makes a seen. plus when im with my girlfriend.I guess its just part of the LR lifestyle. Any ideas? |

Bluish smoke indicates burning oil. Does it happen only on start-up? Or when accelerating? Decelerating? Sounds like worn valve seals and/or guides. |

It only happens when starting it up, then goes away after driving. it mostly happens when its been sitting for a while... could this have anything to w/ recent oil change? Someone told me it was from oil collecting somewhere... but not sure. |

Most likely valve seals. When the truck sits overnight the oil leaks past the seals into the combusition chamber. The blue puff you see is the accumulated oil burning off.

Yep, sounds like valve seals. You can replace those without pulling the heads if you have access to an air compressor. |
