In my eternal vigil against drive-train clunking, tightening bolts and turning drive-train components, I've found that all three of my differentials have a significant amount of play to them. Especially the center diff.

How much play in the differentials is normal? Should I be able to turn tires 1-2 inches before seeing movement in the prop shaft? Should I be able to turn my front prop shaft ~1/8 with my hand?

The U-Joints, and the prop shaft spline joints show no movement at all when twisted.

Ok, that's a lot of questions, but I'm trying to understand what 'normal' play is.

It's somewhat normal to have slack in your driveline. I'm not sure exactly how much is acceptable. With a rebuilt T-Case I had virtully no slack. Now, after 10K miles, I have about the same amount of slack that you do.
