My wife saw a Disco climbing a snow bank in the parking lot outside the Starbucks in Carmel, IN a couple of nights ago. Whoever it was apparently took a few pictures and gave a wave (She was in our Black 96). Anyway, her friend in the car remarked "What kind of dumbass would do something like that?", and of course my wife replied that she was married to exactly that same kind of dumbass. I thought it had to be someone from the board, but I haven't seen any pictures posted yet. They would be worth posting as she said the angle was pretty severe. Pat |

I think you're right Chris. I've done some searches of the archives in the hopes of hitting a thread with "Indiana" or "Indianapolis", and there aren't a whole helluva lot. My wife thought the Discovery was probably black with an adventure rack, but she couldn't be sure. Is yours red with a Dweb sticker in the rear window? PK |

Pat, I saw that you said your wife thought it was maybe black, is she positive? My sister lives in Carmel, frequents Starbucks and has a green 99 DII. And she is crazy enough to try something like that!!! |

Pat, Yes it was me. I just can't drive by a twenty five foot glacier without tyring to drive over it. Just for the record I am not a latte sipping disco owner in fact I don't like to support the Starbucks Monopoly in anyway. The last thing I need when I buy a cup of coffe is a sixteen year old Carmel Highschool Airhead telling me that the Tanins in a five dollar cup of coffee give off a "Citrusy like, FLAVOR!!!!" Just give me a hot cup of joe and don't leave any room for cream. Sorry Starbucks Fans, I just had to Vent. Anyway, the Disco owners of Indy need to unite. Not to form a club but just a group that can raise some hell off road every once in a while. P.S. - Pat, when your wife saw me climbing the mini everest in the starbucks lot I was indeed parked on a very steep incline. So much so that I had a hard time getting back into the drivers seat. Send me an E-Mail if you wanna hit the slopes of Carmel this weekend. That goes for you too Chris. Catch you Fellas and you Shy Ladies on the Flip Side. Sincerely - Chef Warren |

This is a little off topic, but does anyone know what grade a disco can safely climb? I know a G-Wagen can climb 80 degrees without flipping and a CJ-5 will roll on about 30 degrees (joke) but I'm not sure what my disco could do. I'm pretty sure it's more than I'd ever attempt but I'm curious. |

with the only exception of the Gwagen that climbed the Elbrus Mtn. But this one could climb a 90-degree angle, or 110, or whatnot - if it is still considered driving when all four tires are off the ground. |

in the Gwagen brocheur it says "climbing/descending capability: Up to 80% incline" "lateral stability: directionally stable on lateral slopes up to 54%" "No, it's not a mathematical equation. But it does add up to a verical solution" whatever the hell the last sentance meant the brocheur was set up as a timeline of the first 100days of a new owner... the weirdest note was "day 14: bought 2 way radio for off-roading" "day 15: used radios at the mall instead" are they deliberatly trying to make fun of the posers in their customer pool? |

80% <> 80 degree.. am I correct in this?? 100%=45degree so 80% means for every 100 units travel, you go up 80 units.

Charlie, You are correct. 80% means that for every 100 units of horizontal travel, you would be climbing 80 units of vertical travel. However, that is not the same as 80 degrees. When measureing degrees, 90 is vertical. Therefore, 80 degrees equals about 89%. Use the following formula: (V/H) x 100 = % where v = vertical units and h = horizontal units. |

Onionman, 80degree = 89%??? wait a sec. 100% = 45 degree if I remember correctly from 6 grade math, tan [angle] = v/h So 80% will be about 39degree. Ha!! I am so smart.
