I recently tried to replace the automatic transmission fluid temp. sensor because the light kept coming on intermittently. When I rec'd the part, it was not exactly the same as the stock part but simular. After replacing it, it leaked ATF all over the place. I noticed that the stock part had two very thin copper like washers. I took these and put them on the new part and it still leaked. Are these crush washers...do I need some kind of washer to keep it from leaking if so where can I purchase these? Also the diameter of the new sensor appears to be a bit narrower than the stock part. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Ed |

They are copper crush washers. But it should have only one on the sending unit. You can try removing one of them and retighting it. Sometimes they still have some crush left on them but they really are only designed for single use only. You can usually get crush washers from most auto parts store. They come in copper and aluminum/tin. With regards to the diameter, I wouldn't worry about it, a change in design or manufacture will change the outside appearance. As long as it is the same threads and connectors.
