Has anyone attempted a propane conversion on a D1? I am interested for several reasons. I'm curious to know how a propane carb and system could work with the fuel injected manifold and the ECU controlled ignition timing. Or do you have to go all the way back to a point style stand alone distributor and 4 barrel carb manifold from back in 1963 when the Rover V8 used to be a Buick special? |

It's certainly possible - I have a 93 D1 3.5 EfI with gas conversion - professionally done in the UK for 1400 GBP. It uses injector emulators to "fool" the ECU into thinking it's still running on petrol. No problems in 6000 miles. I'd guess you need to look at Europe for suppliers of equipment - mine is done using Landi Renzo gear (Italian). |

search uk web sites for "LPG" conversions there are several kits on the market as lpg costs 0.39 per litre as to 0.81p for petrol! over here. |

There is a company in Salem, Oregon that specializes in installing propane systems into trucks, SUVs and Semis. They're called Ecosource. I don't have a phone number and I don't think they have a website yet either but if you call 411 they can give you a number. If you'd like I can get you the number Monday (3/10). They are actually a freelance client of mine (graphic design) and their contact info is at the office. They have some very cool setups in a F450 and an Excursion. Worth looking into. |

I saw a Ford Taurus perhaps, one of those sedan type cars though, the other day that had all kinds of graphics all over it, lots of pictures of corn. Anyhow, it said down the side that it ran on 85% ethanol. Weird wild stuff |

Check for companies in the Texas Oklahoma area. My uncle had and still does many of his trucks that are bi fuel. Gas (petrol) and propane. This has been common in the area for years. |
