I was just watching CNN and they were reporting from the NY International auto show. There was a Freelander, Disco, and a RR sitting beside one another. The Disco was a White Gold color and had a "Chevron"ed Billet looking grill. It was very similar to an Escalade. Was very odd. It looked like a "cattle catcher" on a locomotive. It didn't appear to be a concept car and had no special expedition gear. Just odd.

Did it have that "cool" new Xterra style aluminum luggage rack on the top too? Just intrested I think the new consumer reports car guide had a small picture of a similar Disco for 2002. I wonder if they are going for the heritage look on the disco with that new grill ;)

that new rack is a go - the company who
makes it for the disco also makes it for
the xterra..... the thick side bars were
going to be on the unborn 02 hse 4.6, along
with a chrome saudi grill. not sure if the
new rack is standard or an option on the
03 discos.... so we'll see.

i am currently working on getting the xterra
style rack for my d1. need a rack that adds
no height to the car and it appears to be my
only option at this time....

Steve,
Personally I dont think the rack is that cool. Xterra has em... why does LR have to follow. But that is my taste. Why not get something that can accept standard Thule Yakama or anouther rack makers equipt. I will be intrested to see pictures of what you do though! Good luck on the no height thing :)

Yeah, but Disco's had the cool bumped up roof line before the Xterra's did. Don't forget that!

Oh yeah, I just wasn't going to start bashing the Xterra. I think that it is in some ways a cheaper look alike if you will. So why does LR have to now copy the Xterra? Just get rid of the roof rails! It would definately make the ride a bit quieter, Oh well
