Alright. I'm looking to add some underbody protection to The Rover, and I've reached an important crossroads...diff guards. As of now, I plan to go with Safari Gard, but I'm concerned about the rear diff. The SG, as well as most other rear diff guards I've seen, only cover the back half of the diff. Seems to me like that would only help if you dropped down on an obstacle or were in reverse. I know that RockWare offers a pinion guard, but in the picture it looks like it only protects the front of the rear diff. Can these two products be used in conjunction, or would I be better off with something like a Southdown rear diff guard? Help...

Zach,
Yes, they can be used in conjunction with one another. If you want a diff Guard that combines a pinion guard into the diff guard, also check out
www.qtservices.co.uk

Discount Rovers is now a QT Services dealer, FWIW.

Will,
Discount Rovers has the front and rear diff guards on special right now for $229/set. Thanks for tne info, it has helped me a lot. Looks like I won't be going with SG after all.

Oh, Will...while I'm thinking about it--are you going to make it up to Chattanooga for the Prentice Cooper Run next week? I see you're from ATL...that's not such a bad drive. It'll be worth it. Check it out on the Events board. Thanks again--hope to see you the 15th!

The rear one bolts right up, but the front one needs two small tabs welded to the diff. I have the QTs front and rear and I really like them.

Ron...I see a front Salisbury diff guard so I would assume they make a rear. Send 'em an e-mail.

The rear diff guard looks to be steel coated with a thin layer of yellow zinc.

This is all you need. If my plans work out i will be able to make these that will not require cutting the diff, the could even be held on with a clamp type system...sewer cap
