I've got a 96 disco, it was jerking at speed, it started to get worse and worse.....I then replaced the spark plugs with bosch plats....the old ones were regular bosch plugs, all looked like they were burning perfect......I soon got the check engine light. After that I did a lot of research on disco web and decided to try VSS first. replaced that. All the high speed cut outs disappeared, however I still had a mis when I started vehicle when I would give it gas to move. When vehicle warmed up good it almost went away completely and only did it occasionally going down the road. I then pulled the plugs to check and regap all of them and the number 5 plug was perfectly clean like it hadn't even been run almost. I figured maybe a bad connection. I went to the local parts store and they checked the code for me and it came up P1316 which everything here says misfire causing excessive emissions. On their computer it said injector circuit. I had them clear the codes....I then drove off and the car ran absolutely perfect. I've read VSS shuts off part of the fuel injection on the left side odd cyclinders...plug number five was clean like new, my question is when u replace a bad VSS do you have to reset the computer/clear codes for the car to run good again? Any help from anyone to understand this? |
