It looks like my 2000 DII is going to need some new rubber soon. Would like to replace with stock size (255 65 16) or a size thats not going to throw the speedo off to much. I'm trying to find a tire with a good balance between wet/dry/snow & lifespan. Any suggestions for your likes / dislikes on the tire avaliablity out there would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Tony

I put the Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires in 255/65/16 on my wife's D2. They did excellent in the snow, do excellent in the rain, and well on dry pavement as well. I actually had these tires on my D1 in the stock 235/70/16's as well, and did quite a bit of offroading and didn't have any problems. I went places with stock tires that some people with A/T's had a heck of a time with. Anyhow, that's my .02

Since you keeping your D2 in stock configuration, I to recommend the Bridgestone Dueler AT.

I run BFG ATs for this kind of condition. Can get really good wear out of them and I think they are great for primarily on road wet/dry and snow. They are kind of pricey though.

I run the Trxus MTs for offroad.

I also have the cross terrains and highly recommend them. after my pos goodyear wranglers developed grapfruit sized lumps in the side walls I decided to upgrade. I have had them through sandy mud, tons of sand and plenty of wet roads and they perform great. The ride quality is 1000% better and it handles wet pavement incredibly well. just my opinion. for what its worth www.tirerack.com has tons of reviews for tires specific to the size you are looking for. good luck!

I put the cross terrains on my 2001 DII. They did good in the mud/dirt @ MAR 2002, and did great in the snow this past Feb (in VA). A bit pricey, though.

Yokohama Geolander AT Plus II's. Great tire on and off-road, and are VERY quiet and have good road manners.

I just put Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos on my DII in 255/70/16. I really like the slightly bigger size and of course it doesn't cause any trouble w/ rubbing or spedo calibration.

I have BFG ATs on my other vehicle (Jeep ZJ) and in comparison, I'd say that the Revos handle better on the pavement and are a little quiter, but that the BFGs are a little better in the snow and dirt. I also strongly considered the Scorpion AT and the Geolander AT. For a good all-around AT tire, you really can't go wrong w/ any of these 4 tires.
