Happy Birthay! Does this mean your Scouting Days are over? Hope you got that Eagle, before time ran out. Do you have to become an Adult Scouter?

Oh Boy, I guess it's time to sign up for Selective Service!

I got my Eagle this past September, and I had my Cerimony 2 weeks ago, so I am all good! I just got an e-mail from my scoutmaster asking if I wanted to be a leader, and I told him yes...so I am now an old phart. I will still be very involved considering my father's employer is the BSA, and I am working on Staff at the local Boy Scout Camp. As far as "SS" goes, I haven't gotten anything in the mail, I need to do that though...how do I go about signing up?

Thanks for the happy birthdays!!!

Will

yeah just do it w/ in 30 days. BTW I didn't mean go to the post office because it might be lost in the mail, they all keep a big stack of them behind the desk.

Many moons ago when I was in the D.E.P. just prior to Desert Storm, I got my notice to sign up for the selected service. My recruiter told me to not worry about it since I was about to be on Uncle Sams payroll. Anyway, when I went home on leave after 13 weeks of boot camp fun, I had a notice sitting at home telling me that I would be put in jail if I didn't sign up for the selected service! Ummm, okay! Just a simple letter with my current orders cleared that up :-)

Oh and happy b-day!

Will
happy birthday.
Don't worry too much the way I see it being an old phart in the troop is defined by two things.
1) You can remember specific details of the days the youth in the troop were born. i.e., Billy was born on June 3, 1992? damn, that was the night I went to the Prom.
2) The girls you dated in high school start showing up with their kids in the troop.
So don't worry you still have a ways to go. #1 has happened to me, I'm still waiting for #2...but I know it's only a matter of time.

That is hilarious! I hope it's a long time before either of those happen.

Oh no Will, your one of the old farts!! I guess now you will have to laugh at every little stupid thing that happens and take care of the littluns'.

All I got to say is try to have fun with it! Just sit back in your camp chair and yell at the people that are disrepecting the coffee pot :-). I know I am :-):-):-).

Will,
I was 18 in November, and had to sign up for selective service as well. It's easier to do it at www.SSS.gov. Congratulations, and happy birthday.

Best-
Zach
