Having trouble pumping gas into my 03 Disco. When I pump the gas and leave it to continue pumping on its own, it constantly shuts off every 30-45 seconds. It is especially annoying when it is 20 degrees outside. I wonder if it has something to do with the angle the pump is when it is inside the tank. |

Bring it to your dealer. There is a thread several scrolls down called "New Service Actions" that talks about this. Apparently there is a "Fuel fill shutoff enhancement" fix available. I've only encountered this problem once on my '03 Disco. But I think the issue is dependent on the pump being used. -ema |

Or you could move to NJ Seriously, my '01 does that too sometimes, but it appears to be more of a function of which gas station I go to, in some I don't have any trouble at all. |

Same thing happens with my '01 Disco. Move to LA its never that cold here and if it does get near that cold everything shuts down anyway. One mod you could make is to unteather the gas cap and wedge it in the pump handle. The flow rate should be slow enough to where it won't shut off so frequently |

Michael, I too have an issue pumping gas with my 98 DiscoI. One solution which seems to work for me- when fueling, put the nozzle in, engage the handle and then angle the handle so that it is parallel to the body of the truck rather than perpendicular. If there is enough play in the fuel hose, I will often drape the hose over the spare tire or rear lamp guards in order to hold the nozzle parallel to the body. There seems to be no problem with gas flow when I pump it this way. Hope this helps- much harder to explain than execute.

The 03 pumping issue is a free fix from the dealer I had it done back in September and never had a problem since. I think they relocate the air breather line or put a larger dia one on. If I went full blast on the pump it would creep up the line and cut out every time. Good luck Ross Thoma |
