The Discovery is the Disco. We have Rangie, D90 and 110. "Freelander" is too long to say or type, it needs a nickname. Anybody know if they have come up with a nickname for it in Europe yet?

"Freddie"?
"Freebie"?
"FL"?
None of those are very good, does anybody have any suggestions?

Thor is a Norse God NOT a Germanic God!!! Not The same thing!!!

Freyja is the Norse godess of love and fertility.
Besides Odin, the major deities of Scandinavian mythology were his wife, Frigg, goddess of the home; Thor, god of thunder, who protected humans and the other gods from the giants and who was especially popular among the Scandinavian peasantry; Frey, a god of prosperity; and Freya, sister of Frey, a fertility goddess. Other, lesser gods were Balder, Hermod, Tyr, Bragi, and Forseti; Idun, Nanna, and Sif were among the goddesses. The principle of evil among the gods was represented by the trickster Loki. Many of these deities do not seem to have had special functions; they merely appear as characters in legendary tales.
While Scandinavian (norse) history is almost synonymous with the other northern european history and myths (Germanic) they should be separated.

leif -

i was under the impression that there was cultural interchange of the gods - loosely odin/thor/zeus were all very much alike.

there was also gods in the sumerian pantheon that tell very much alike aswell. in egypt - osiris would be their 'thor', in sumeria 'anu' yes?

i agree that the vague interchange is not officially 'correct' as the origin of the tale should get the nod. it is like saying people from sweden are the same as people from germany - well yes and no! - so i agree.

however under the teutonic representation
the lines become further blurred.

NOW BACK TO THE THREAD - i woke up this morning and a name came to me. the freelander - not really part of the 'royal family' - you either love it or not - so how is the FERGIE!

Most definitely FLANDERS!

Somebody already mentioned this (as 'Ed Flanders') but it is 'Ned Flanders'.

For everything you need to know about good ol' okely-dokely Neddy and other Flandereses (that's the way Homer says it) check out: http://www.snpp.com/guides/flanders.file.html
