YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! -- I know not a real man's question but it is rather annoying.

It seems that a cell phone (a few different kinds from different service providers) creates a clicking sound through the speakers when the radio is on. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix. I have a 97 D1. Many times I can tell a call is coming in to me before the phone actually rings because I can hear the clicking indicative of the "handshake" between the tower and the phone.

You shouldn't be driving while on a cellphone. I can't even imagine driving my lifted Disco and on the phone at the same time. It's already hard to drive no need to increase the accident factor. If you don't want to listen to me, What the Hell do you need the radio on for while talking on the phone?

With an aftermarket stereo in my old Honda Civic, the phone would make the stereo click before it began ringing, it was always nice to know when to pull over and turn down the stereo:-)

Every since the phones switched to digital, they have all done this in one way or another. Not sure why.....

Very simple...EMFs...electro-magnetic frequencies.
That clicking sound you hear is not your radio, but the tumor in your brain growing and pressing against your middle ear...

Same thing happens to my 95 disco. I actually like it. It's like an early warning system for when a call is coming in. It doesn't happen in any of my other cars though. Tumor... its not a tumor....

No answer to the question -- my 01 DII doesn't do it. But give the guy a break he may be resolving attention to trafic and tumor issues by using a hands free set up.

My hands-free Nokia set does the same thing. Really loud interference before the ring, and then a buzz throughout the call - adjusting the volume all the way down on the instrument panel doesn't kill it - I have to turn off the radio power to stop it.

So once again, why do you guys want to be able to listen to the radio while you talk on the phone?? Sorry it just makes no sense to me the first thing I do when the phone rings in the car is turn the radio off.

Carter,

It is not that I listen to the radio while talking...Rather, the radio is typically on and even when not talking on the phone, there are occasional clicks/pops, etc. as the phone hunts for new towers along the way. Then when someone calls, I hear clicks, turn the radio all the way down or off, and then answer the call on a hands-free set. With the radio volume completely down, you can still hear the clicks/pops through the speakers.

Oh, I didn't realize you were having problems all the time. You made it sound like it only happened when it rang like mine does. Sorry for any confusion

Yeah, I get the clicking, hunting sounds too, at my desk and in the car.

I'm glad to have this device far away from my head whenever possible!
