For a 95 discovery, can I use a generic Bosch ignition coil? I have one from a 92 volvo sitting around and was wondering if that would work.

I dont know if that is right - there is resistance issues. The coil operates with a HEI module (pulse generator). I put a ACEL yellow from the US on my 95 in OZ and together with new leads, rotor cap and button and plugs the thing was transformed. It puts out a HUGE spark.

Bosch does make a coil that will fit a Rover, but "just any coil" won't work. Fit a coil with too low a resistance and you'll fry the amplifier. Get a part that is compatible. There are alternatives to genuine Rover. Bosch is one.

Welll....I've been using a coil from a 68 Nova that was originally designed for a ballast resistor system for the last 30K miles - plenty of spark and no issues with amp. (so far).

John, would you happen to know a part number for a Bosch? The one in there now is Lucas and I like to stay away from that sadist.
