They are both reputable companies, each with their positives and negatives. YOu will be pleased with either one.

I have Rover Tym springs, Rockware cross tube, and shocks from Great Basin Rovers. Yep, an equal opportunity purchaser.

Peace,
Paul

Why Ranchos with a 2" lift? If you need the extra travel, why not consider OME Nitrocharger shocks and extend your lower shock studs?

Adam, I've only heard good things about Rovertym and plan to put some of their springs on eventually, but I actually have the Rockware rear shock mounts with RS9012's and a winch bumper on my D90. The quality is excellent. Welds looks like they were done by a machine and everything bolted up perfectly - which is unusual for a D90. I don't know Matt personally but he's gone above and beyond for me on both occasions I've had dealings with him. Great guy, excellent company and because of that I'll recommend them anytime someone asks. Plus, aren't you in Colorado? Rockware is down in the Springs, you could save some shipping.

Sorry. I did not address your question.

RS9000's

Pros:
...

Cons:
harsh ride
weak welds

I currently have the rs9000's on the Disco. I can't stand them. I've snapped a ring off the ranchos with just daily driving. Others have had similar experiences. You just can't find the right setting on them. the fronts are fine. At 4 your ass bounces all over the place and at 5 you can can feel your kidneystones shaking like a bag of marbles. Although I will admit to setting them on 1 and bouncing down the local roads just for shits and giggles. Perhaps the correct setting just doesn't exist. I don't particularly think they are BAD shock, i just think they don't work with the Disco. I haven't quite learned my lesson and will put them on the 90 as the D90 crowd seems to like them(lighter truck). Search the archives. There are plenty of other reviews on the Ranchos.

FWIW The 5-way adjustable RS9000's are no longer available - now they have an 8-position knob. Don't know if it's just fluff or if the new shocks really adjust better. I run the RS9207's up front w/Rockware 1/2" spacers (D90) because the case is beefier and I was worried about snapping the RS9014.
Feel free to tell me to head back to the Defender section at any time.

I also have a combination of Rockware and Rovertyme and think that both have quality items. The things that stand out to me are:
1. Rovertyme's cones are MUCH quieter and smoother (I'm gonna switch}.
2. I'm on my second set of RTE (3in HD) springs in two years. John showed GREAT service by replacing the first set when they sagged 1/2 inch in the first 2 months, but the second set has faired no better.

"Feel free to tell me to head back to the Defender section at any time."

I just had flashbacks of the old LRO list split and formed the CRO list when they could no longer take all the questions from the coilers about heated seats and electric windows.

I don't know where I belong either, Art.

I'm having the same experience with Rovertym RR3 springs. They are down over 1/2" in the rear with only 10k miles on them. I expected some settling over time. Not sure if this is the norm. Perhaps a call to John is in order.

Damn, bummer to hear that about those springs - I hope RTE gets the sagging issues worked out before I'm ready to replace my OME. I like to try to support the guys exclusively making stuff for Rovers. I'm also glad to hear about RTE's drop-out cones in case I ever decide to go that route. Because of the short wheelbase I went with Expedition Exchange's retainers, which I am very pleased with.

I can't decide weather I'm going to shift to 2 inch springs plus spacers, or give a different 3 inch spring a try. I'm told that bearmach's also sag very quickly...maybe mean greens.
