A local resident who helped maintain the spontaneous memorial said she was shocked by the destruction. "They trashed 87 flags, ripped 11 memorial tiles made by myself and my children out of the ground and glued the Bob Dylan song to a sign that said, 'America, land of the brave, home of the free,'" said Tracey Chandler, a mother of four, referring to Dylan's "With God on Our Side," an anti-war anthem of the 1960s. "It's unbelievable, because there were absolutely no political messages on this fence," said Chandler, according to the Daily News. "It was all about supporting our troops, which could mean bringing them home, and about remembering 9-11." ...Chandler said she is going to help rebuild the memorial, promising "it will be brighter, bigger and better than ever." at least the asshole protestors only rear their ugly heads once in a long while, whereas the good people in this country are a permanent fixture...that last paragraph up there says it all.

I have debated enough...This is obviously one of those polorizing issues. But I feel proud knowing what side I belong to. And it ain't with the so called "anti-war" protestors. -Chris |

Man, that's in my hood. That's really really really sad. I hope the owner presses charges, for sure. Another pissed-off Whittier resident. |

Hey whats missing here on this post? I know, it is a response from that long winded wind bag Paul G. I am so suprised that he has not posted a 600 word essay to why these people did this to a memorial for all of those who died on September 11th. Just a thought. |

With all the police and fire men killed on 9-11 I cant believe those cops(or cop-outs) could just stand there and watch. What about vandelisim charges? You cant tell me they could'nt have let them practice their free speech wile not destroying private property. Is nothing sacered? I wonder what all the American service men killed around the world to protect there rights would think about the state were in now. |

Jake, Yeah, you should let your dogs get after em. It would be terrific if charges were brought against them, and the sentence could be community service building more memorials. John

They trashed 87 flags and 11 tiles (that were private property) in the guise of "right of free speach".... May we go drill these three fucks in the face 87 times with the same "rights"? |
