Guys at the car wash broke off my antenna. Its not a power antenna, but they snapped it off at the base. How do i go about installing a new one? |

It's been a while but I think it's like this on my D1: The cable from the antenna snakes down thru the PS fender, pops out in the engine bay behind the ECU, goes back to the fire wall, through a grommet, into the space behind the PS kick panel. The connection to the antenna wire coming from the radio is behind the glove box. To replace the antenna, I dropped the fender liner out and had to remove the ECU cover and winshield-washer container. May be more info in the archives. Good luck. |

I didn't have to remove the washer reservoir. When you disconnect the cable from the back of the radio unit, tie a length of heavy twime to the cable, then pull the old antenna up and out, pulling the twine with it until just the twine remains in place of the cable. but, don't pull the twine all the way out. Then, tie the upper end of the twine to the end of the new cable, and pull the twine and new cable back through the same route to the radio unit. And next time you go wheeling, collapse your antenna into to the fender BEFORE you snap it off on some low-hanging tree branch. |

If you pop the plastic rivnuts on the trailing-edge of the passenger side wheel-well, you won't cut your hands trying to do this install from the opening at the door hinges. I bent my new antenna nicely trying to get in from the door side. At forty bucks, just go through the wheel-well. Cheers, e
